Any suggestions for which one to download?? I'm not so big on murder mysteries, but would certainly make an exception for one that Michael narrates. For me, Michael didn't read enough on the murder mystery, although I loved the ending, with him shouting and pleading in the background. My favorites are 'Three Blind Mice,' (that's a murder mystery, too; I loved how Michael narrated the Southern guys, who I thought were very scary, sometimes, yet also funny, with their cruel humor.) and 'All The Kings Men' (the second half of the story, where Michael's character reminised about his childhood and teenage years, is my favorite part of the book. I felt as though Michael really was the character, narrating his life. I'm so engrossed in it every time I hear it, I feel as though I'm actually watching a film, not listening to an audiobook.

Yes, yes, yes! That is my favorite because unlike all of the other audiobooks I'd listened to, where Michael generally narrated harsh characters, killers, he was able to put his gentle demeanor into this character and narrate a nice, sweet, average guy, who seemed very similiar to himself. I think his voice was perfect.
It's the one that I really related to, about a man's life, growing up, his fear and uncertainty about life, how his feelings change, his relationships, etc. In my opinion, the first half is a little slow, with the complex scene descriptions, but the second half of the story made up for it and sounded as though it was easier to write; It's very lovely, like 'Romeo and Juliet.'
'The Amalgamation Polka' is also another story about a boy who grows up and fights in the Civil War; I liked it, but I related more towards the boy's mother.
'Four Blind Mice' was the most simpliest written, in my opinion, like how people talk in everyday conversations; I liked it because it was fun to hear Michael narrate the 3 Southern guys with wit and sarcasm.
I enjoyed these two stories, but 'All The King's Men' spoke to me a lot more than they had, a deeper, emotional story about hopes, dreams and fears.

Well, I am definitely biased about "All The King's Men." I think that book is one of the best books in the modern era. And the narration is ENTIRELY by Michael, and what amazes me is how much he inhabits each of the characters, all of whom are quite different. The only characters he doesn't do well are the female characters, and that's not surprising. It's difficult, if not impossible, to convey a member of the opposite sex, especially those in that novel. But still it's a wonderful listening experience. It had to be a very arduous stretch of work for him, but he did it well.

I just bought 'All the King's Men.' It'll be my Michael treat to tide me over until that little-known television show he often makes a cameo in comes back in seven days.

Geez, we have to wait seven WEEKS here! On topic: I'd love to get even one of these audio books. Guess that's my next mission.

I'm plugging away at "All the King's Men." I don't think I would enjoy the story half as much if it weren't Michael reading it; the author is a great writer but it's just not my preferred style of fiction. Michael's voice is heavenly, though.
