I'm plugging away at "All the King's Men." I don't think I would enjoy the story half as much if it weren't Michael reading it; the author is a great writer but it's just not my preferred style of fiction. Michael's voice is heavenly, though. I've only listened to five minutes; I had a busy weekend. Hopefully I'll get a chance to listen some more later. His voice...

It's first time when I'm visiting this topic. Here is the reason: I had terribly expensive internet. So I didn't even want to know about existence of audiobooks, video, clips etc. Cause I could not download them. But now I have much more favourable tariff for the Internet. I have watched some video, have heard Michael's voice without the translator.... And Luis Lowry has made me interested in audiobooks. So... Friends, could you advise me the audiobook with which is better to begin? My English is not perfect, I am afraid I will not understand difficult texts.

sunnysmilehello according to the opinions of this topic "All the king`s men" and "The Amalgamation Polka" are the best. Glad for you changed the tariff I understand how bad it is - to have limited and expensive tariff(( I used to have such kind of tariff not long ago too...

And I have a question too.. I have to choose between "All the king`s men" and "The Amalgamation Polka" to buy from the amazon. But because of the cost I think I won`t buy both of them at once. With what shall I begin with?.. Many thanks!

I'm listening to "All the King's Men" at the moment, and really enjoying it. Michael talks very clearly and slowly, so it's great for non-native English speakers. I would totally recommend it! The author does go off on some very strange tangents and likes his characters to speak very philosophically at times, but I like this. I really like the narrator, Jack Burden, although I don't know how much of this is because Michael is playing the role!!
