Day 75 René was tearing through her work area and found the portfolio she was looking for. It was labeled "ALEX Year 1" and she laid it out on the kitchen table. She zipped it open and began sorting through the different pictures that she had painted during their therapy sessions. All of them were simple childhood paintings from growing up on the island. The jungle, playing on the swing set with Ben, the ocean. René sat down in the chair, frustrated. "It's got to be here" she banged her fist on the table.
"Be where?" Cindy said as she yawned walking into the kitchen.
"Oh, Cindy, I'm SO sorry, did I wake you?" René had completely forgotten about the others still sleeping.
"It's ok, time to get a jump on the morning anyway. Andy said Ben wanted to see the kids today briefly. I was going to take them over in a couple hours."
She walked over to the table and began looking at the paintings. "What are looking you for?"
"Oh, it's not important right now" René blatantly lied and began shoving all the work back into the portfolio. "I thought I needed something."
"Alright" Cindy said as she went to the cupboard. "Coffee?"
"Yes please" René sighed. She would have to think this out. More so, she would need to understand who the man was that came to see her. Up until now her only dreams or visions were always from her husband.
"You know what Cindy, I'm really tired. Go ahead and just make enough coffee for yourself. I'm gonna lay down" René got up from the table and began walking down the hall back to her room.
She closed the door behind her and slumped onto her bed her hands clasping over her face in uter frustration.

Mars was still brainstorming on how to start the van again when she heard noises from the jungle. Jin, Sawyer and Hurley looked up, trying to find the source of the noise. “Who’s there?” Sawyer demanded. “We know you’re there.” Mars watched as Carrie emerged from within the trees. “It’s okay. It’s only me.” “Carrie?” Mars looked at her in surprise. “You two know each other?” Sawyer looked at both of them curiously. Mars didn’t say anything. She stared past Carrie. Glimpses of scenes from her encounter with Kelso demanded her attention like a pack of wild dogs.
After several minutes watching Hurley, Jin and Sawyer, Mars walked towards Carrie. “Carrie, I need to talk to you.” she spoke slowly, making sure that she understands, “About Kelso.” Carrie sighed. “What is it?” “Last night, I woke up in the dead of night … and as crazy as it might sound, Kelso was there.” Mars explained, not looking away from Carrie. “It was weird. He didn’t look like a ghost, but he didn’t look real. I’m starting to wonder if it was a dream or not. I mean, it musta been, but it was just so real …”
“You could have been hallucinating.” Carrie responded simply. “Or, maybe you did see a ghost. Why are you telling me this, anyway?” “Because he told me to tell you something.” Mars put an emphasis on the last few words. This caught Carrie’s attention. “He said to tell you that he loves you.” Mars said. Carrie looked away. “Why did he tell you and not me?” Carrie looked at her and asked. A tinge of sadness in her voice. Mars agreed. “I asked him the same thing. “He said it was because you’re with Richard now. He said he’s happy, because you’re happy.”
Mars smiled. Message delivered.
Mars jerked when she saw a can of beer rolling past her and down the hill. "Pass us one of those beers, I ain't had one in ages." Carrie asked. “Sure thing.” Sawyer reached over to his left to grab a can of beer. “Catch.” he said as he throw the can of beer to Carrie. Sawyer then looked at Mars. “You want some, Sunshine?” he asked, holding a can of beer on his hand. “You want some sunshine?” Mars joked. Sawyer rolled his eyes. “You want some COMMA sunshine QUESTION MARK. Man, you reminded me of that chick called Nikki.” Mars laughed and sat on the ground in front of Sawyer. “Pass me that beer.” Sawyer raised his eyebrows and gave Mars a new can of beer. Mars grinned as she opened the can.
“Okay, Jin.” Sawyer said. “I‘m sorry.” “I’m sorry.” Jin said. “Okay, nice. Keep it coming.” “You were right.” Jin struggled. “Nice one, Jin.” Mars praised. “Okay, that’s two. Hit me.” Sawyer continued. “Those pants don’t make you look fat.” Jin said.
“What on earth did you teach him?” Mars chuckled while taking a sip of beer. “That’s the only 3 things a woman needs to hear, Moonbeam. Cheers.” Mars, Jin, Carrie and Sawyer touched cans and each took a sip. “Come on, get up. We’ve got work to do.” Hurley said afterwards, walking towards the van.

A bare woman's back could be seen lying in bed, sheets covering her lower half. Her back was a flawless rose-ivory color. She bore a Chinese calligraphy tattoo in the center of her lower back and three more on her inner left hand shoulder. A man's hand hand slowly stroked her back in earnest of slowly waking her from sleep. The sound of a deep sigh could be heard.
"What is it?" René said without rolling over. "I'm still tried, it can't be time to get up yet?"
The man continued stroking her back and leaned in to whisper in her ear.
"It's time." the voice said.
"Nope," you could hear the smile in René's voice. "Refuse. Not getting up."
He reached down to place his hand on hers that was carelessly lying on her curved hip.
"Shan, seriously, can't we wait for the alarm?" René tried to brush him away. She held the sheet closely to her body and rolled over. The man looking back at her was NOT Shannon. NOT her husband. His clear blue eyes starred back at her with a wry smile. He leaned in again to her ear to whisper.
"Help him."
*******************************************************************************
René shot straight out her bed, her breathing was tense and thick. She thought she was going to pass out she sprung so quickly from out of her slumber. She stumbled over to the closet door and leaned her weight against it, slowly sliding her back down to sit on the floor. She sat in a curled up ball, her heart palpitated fiercely.
"Oh my God" She blurted to herself. She wasn't sure if she felt fear, exhilaration or just plain bewilderment.

Carrie sat down on the edge of the van, the door wide open. She opened the can of beer Sawyer had thrown her. An awful stink rose up from within. “Eee doggies, Sawyer, you were right! This stuff reeks!”
Sawyer looked at Carrie, his eyebrows raised. “Now that’s scarily southern,” he said, giving Mars a can of beer as she sat in front of him.
“Yeah, I tend to speak more southern around southerners, it’s weird.” Carrie took a sip from the beer can as she spoke. It stunk and was flat, but it tasted alright.
Sawyer continued teaching Jin English, Carrie and Mars looking on in amusement as he did so.
“What on earth did you teach him?” Mars asked, as Carrie laughed at Jin’s final English sentence.
“The only three things a woman needs to hear, Moonbeam. Cheers.”
Just as Carrie, Sawyer, Mars and Jin touched beer cans, Hurley strode in from within the jungle, looking rather determined. “Come on. Get up; we’ve got work to do.”
“What’s your problem, Jumbotron?” Sawyer looked over at Carrie, who raised her eyebrows in a way to say “I could do better”.
“Shut up, Red … neck … man!” Hurley attempted to beat Sawyer at his own game. Carrie and Mars laughed.
“Touché!” Sawyer replied sarcastically. He raised his eyebrows as Charlie entered. “What the hell is Jiminy Cricket doing here?”
Carrie bit her lip. Last time she’d seen Charlie, things hadn’t gone so well. He’d confronted her, soon after she’d come to the survivors camp, about trying to shoot Zoe – she’d quickly reminded him, however, that in the end Charlie had shot Carrie, making them even. She’d gone on to tell him about Zoe’s pregnancy, but he hadn’t believed her.
“We need another man,” explained Hurley. At this point, Carrie and Charlie made eye contact. They watched each other, daring the other to break it. After a moment or two, Charlie looked away. Carrie smiled satisfactorily.
“Another man for what?” Sawyer asked.
“To push this car, dude,” Hurley explained as if it were simple.
“Push it? Push it where?”
“I’ll show you, come on.” Hurley made his way behind the van. “C’mon, you guys! You doing this or what?”
Carrie, Mars, Sawyer, Charlie and Jin all, rather reluctantly, followed Hurley and helped him push. Hurley did most of the work, determined to get the car going. Carrie wondered why she was there – she wasn’t one of them. She was one of the Others, their enemy almost. What was she doing pushing an old DHARMA van with them? It didn’t make sense to her, nor did she think it made any sense to anyone else. But still, at least this way, she wasn’t hated by either side.
A few minutes later, they reached the edge of a rather steep hill. Hurley looked out proudly at the horizon, while the rest looked out in awe.
“Sweet nibblets,” said Carrie.

René got up from the floor and quickly grabbed some fresh clothes to change into after her shower. While she bathed she couldn't get the image of the man from her dream out of her head. Every time she closed her eyes all she could envision were his piercing eyes.
She dried off and put on a long loose white skirt and yellow tank with a Chinese brush pattern of bamboo on it. When she reached for the door to leave there was a knock. René looked at the door inquisitively and wondered to herself odd timing.
She opened the door to find Juliette. She looked tired but the look on her face said more than that. "Were you on your way out René?"
"Yes, but I'm in no hurry." she lied, but hadn't been able to speak with Juliette since before Ben's surgery and welcomed her visit.
"I wanted to say goodbye" Juliette looked very melancholy.
"Goodbye? I don't understand. I know the council is mad Juliette but," Juliette interrupted before she could finish.
"It's not the council at all. Ben is letting me go home, to my sister. He's letting Jack, Zoe and I off the island. It's time I went home." she held out to René and they hugged.
"What about your research?"
"There's nothing more I can do. I can't solve the problem. I think it's out of my hands now."
René sat on the chair near the living room and sighed. "Oh. Wow, I guess I never saw this coming."
"I know it's alot to take in. But I had to tell you. I wasn't going to leave you with out saying goodbye." Juliette was very genuine in telling René this. The two had become good friends since Juliette came to the island.
"Now, I hear you wanted to talk to me before over at the Hydra. Let's hear it." She smiled reassuringly to René.
René took a deep breath before attempting to give Juliette the condensed version of her dreams and visions. "The dreams I've been having have gotten much more intense." she shook her head and played with her hair, twirling it around her fingers. "I swear on my mothers grave, I saw Shannon when we were over at the Hydra." She went on to tell Juliette all the visions she had recently, including the one just this morning out by the swing set. "And then the dream that I woke up to just an hour ago, was SO real."
Juliette looked concerned but kept quiet until she knew she had finished talking. René went on, "And what they keep saying, help him, help him, augh, I can't get his face out of my mind" she became frustrated.
"Who's face René? Shannon's?"
René shook her head. "It wasn't Shannon." she gulped, she knew Juliette wouldn't want to hear the next part. "It was Ben. I-I don't understand what it all means. His surgery went ok, he's fine. I," she trailed off.
Juliette sat back in the chair. "Wow, um, have you spoken to him about this or to anyone?"
"I was on my way over to see him when you came. I told him about my visions of Shannon. I know Jacob has a purpose for me,"
Juliette was slightly shocked. She didn't know how to interpret any of this information. She shook her head in disbelief. René hadn't ever been so open so quickly with her before. She stood up and reached out for René's hand. "Come on." she said pulling René from the chair. "Ben owes you some answers."

Mars stood on the edge of a fairly steep hill after pushing the old DHARMA van along with Hurley, Charlie, Carrie, Jin and Sawyer. Mars looked at the horizon, looking at the grassy and moderately forested plateau at the bottom of the hill. “Oh, yes.” Mars grinned. “Are you nuts?” Sawyer asked, disbelieved. “You’re not going to drive down that!” “We're going to jumpstart it. You guys are going to push it. And then on the way down I'm going to pop the clutch and get it started.” Hurley said, his determination still as intense as it was before.
Sawyer pointed at the boulders on the middle of the plateau. “See those rocks?” Sawyer reminded “All you're going to do is crash into those real fast. If you don't roll over first.” Mars almost raised her hand to tell Hurley that she could zap the van to start it, but she then realized that petrol and electricity doesn’t make a very good combo. “Dude, I know how to drive!” Hurley protested. “Now come on, just push me. This'll work; I know it!”
Mars, driven with curiosity, walked closer towards Carrie and asked her. “Hey… I know this is not the right time to ask you this, but what can you do with your power?” Carrie raised one eyebrow. “Why do you want to know?” “Maybe you can help them start the van.” “Why don’t you help them start the van?” Carrie challenged. Mars sighed. “Electricity. Petrol.” Mars shook her head. “Not a good combo.” Carrie looked around, making sure that no one is watching her. “I’ll give you a demo, but I’m not using my power to help them push the van.” She whispered. Mars nodded. “See that small rock over there?” Carrie pointed at a small rock not far from where Jin is standing. Carrie reached her arm out and the rock started to move slowly towards Mars, and finally, into her palms.
“Terrific.” Mars said in astonishment. “Hey! Come on! Let’s give ‘em their ride!” Sawyer said. Mars, Jin and Carrie moved into position, followed by Sawyer. “You guys ready?” “Yeah.” Mars sighed. “Push!” Hurley commanded. Mars and everyone else pushed the van down the slope and watched in both amazement and fear as the van bounces along the way, picking up speed, getting closer and closer to the boulders.
To everyone’s amazement, the van’s engine started and Hurley began to drive away from the boulders. “Son-of-a-bitch!” Sawyer chuckled “Yeah!” Jin laughs. Mars watched as they ran down the hill to join Charlie and Hurley. Mars looked at Carrie. “Come on, let’s go.” she said as she started to run.

Carrie squinted out into the distance, wondering what the hell Hurley was thinking. He couldn't drive down that, surely?
"See those rocks?" Sawyer indicted a large collection of rocks at the bottom of the steep slope, right in front of where they were standing. "All you're gonna do is crash into those real fast, if you don't roll over first."
"Dude, I know how to drive! Now come on, just push. This'll work, I know it!" Hurley tried to convince everyone to push the van down towards the rocks.
As Carrie stood looking at the pointy rocks, she suddenly became aware of Mars walking up to her. "Hey," Mars said, "I know this isn't the right time to ask you this, but what can you do with your power?"
Carrie looked at Mars curiously. "Why do you want to know?"
"Maybe you can help them start the van," Mars suggested.
"Why don't you help them start the van?"
Mars shook her head, sighing. "Electricity. Petrol. Not a good combo."
Carrie shrugged in agreement. She gave a furitive glance around, to make sure no-one was watching. Everyone was concentrating on Hurley and the van. "I'll give you a demo," she whispered reluctantly, "but I'm not using my power to help them push the van." She looked out at the grass in front of them. "See that small rock over there?" Carrie reached out her hand and, from several metres away, pulled it towards her with ease.
Mars' eyes widened in astonishment. "Terrific," she muttered under her breath.
After finally pushing the van down the hill, the engine started just as Hurley neared the rocks, and swerved.
"Son of a bitch!" Sawyer exclaimed. Carrie simply laughed, as Sawyer and Jin ran down to meet Hurley and Charlie.
Carrie and Mars looked at each other, somehow connecting with each other by just one look. "C'mon, let's go," Mars said, following the others down. Carrie shrugged, and followed her. May as well live for the moment, she thought.
After they'd all driven around in the van, Jin attempted, through incomprehensable Korean and various hand gestures, that he wanted to go back to the beach. Charlie decided to join him, as he wanted to make sure Claire was okay, and Sawyer wanted to go back too, but he didn't explain why.
"What about you, Toots?" Sawyer looked over at Carrie. "Y'all coming back with us, or going back to your cosy li'l haven?"
Carrie thought for a moment. "I may aswell come back with you, I'm sure Richard won't mind. Besides, I need to pick up Kelso's stuff. Don't want you nicking any of it."

Mars sighed a sigh of content after finishing her third joy ride with Hurley around the plateau. Everyone has gone back to the beach, leaving both of them alone in the van, looking at the beautiful view and enjoying the cool breeze.
Mars put her legs on the dashboard of the van and opened another can of DHARMA beer, listening to the soft sound of the radio. “Young Love” by Sonny James is now on, a song Mars clearly remember. Hurley is next to her, his head rested on top of the steering wheel, looking at the bright, blue sky. Mars closed her eyes, the tunes from the radio filling her ears.
Young love, first love, Filled with true devotion, Young love, our love, We share with deep emotion.
“Hey Mars,” Hurley interrupted. “Can I ask you something?” “Hmm?” Mars pondered, not opening her eyes. “Do you have, um, super-powers? ‘Coz, I saw you the other day after Kelso hit you, and you were, like, giving yourself a zap.” Hurley stammered. Mars opened her eyes and looked at Hurley, shocked. Mars nodded. There’s no point lying. “Yes, Hurley. I do.” Mars nodded. “I can manipulate electricity.” “Whoa.” Hurley said, giving Mars an astonished look. “But Hurley, please don’t tell anyone about this, okay?” Mars put her hand on Hurley’s shoulder. “Why? You can help lots of people, dude. You can help us get rid of those Others!” Hurley shot back. “I don’t want to be the centre of attention, Hurley.” Mars declared. “I’ll help them if they need my help.” Hurley nodded. “Whatever you say, dude.”
Mars took a sip of DHARMA beer. This is getting complicated. “What can you do, dude?” Hurley asked “Lots.” Mars took another sip of beer. “Like what?” “Like, throwing bolts of electricity, creating electrical barriers, healing people, um..” Mars tried to remember, but the beer jumbled her thoughts. “I don’t know. I can’t be bothered explaining.” Hurley shrugged.
Mars looked out of the window and took a deep breath. “Wish Libby is here with us.” Hurley sighed and looked at the horizon. “Yeah.” Mars agreed. “She’d love the view.” “Shall we go for another ride?” Hurley asked. “Why not?” Mars smiled. Hurley started the engine.
--------------------------------------------------
Young love, first love, Filled with true devotion, Young love, our love, We share with deep emotion.
Eleven-year-old Mars and her friends stood in front of a jukebox on a restaurant, waiting for their order. “So how’s it going, Mars?” Martin, one of her friend, asked. Martin was in his early twenties, and he wore an open-collared shirt with a steel beam embroidered on the front. His round head would be the perfect resting place for a broad-rimmed hat. “Nothing much. Dad’s still coming home drunk, and Mom’s… still gambling all night long.” Mars sighed, inserting a silver coin in the jukebox slot to repeat the song. “Man, I love this song.” “How’s your part-time job at that newspaper agency?” Martin looked at his watch. “Not bad, actually.” Mars raised her eyebrows. “I got quite an OK sum of money to buy myself and my parents food and drink.”
“That’s a good thing to hear.” Martin smiled slightly. “Any future plans?” Mars shook her head. “Look, we’re planning to move to London next year. You know - to find some work out there in the Big City. Do you want to join us?” Martin offered. Mars shrugged. “I don’t know.” she paused, “I can’t really leave my parents alone.” “That’s fine.” Martin nodded. “You’ll find your way. Just let us know if you‘re going with us.” “Yeah.” Mars sighed. “Thanks for the offer, Martin.” Martin chuckled. “No problem.”

Dear Mom and Dad,
As I’m writing this, I’m waiting for my plane (Oceanic # 815) from Sydney to Los Angeles. I’ll be meeting my friend, whose dad is an owner of a large business there. If I’m successful, I’ll start working there immediately (and obtain my citizenship, if possible - I‘m turning 17 very soon). I know it’ll be hard to get in, but I’ll try. If not, I’ll go back to London again, because work has been great there. (except for the incident that happened a few years ago.)
I don’t know if I have time to send another mail to you once I arrived in LA, but I’ll try my best to keep both of you up to date on what’s going on. I’ll send both of you some money, just like before.
Mom and Dad,
I’m sorry, Because I always made you angry. I’m sorry, Because my income doesn’t meet your expectations. I’m sorry, Because I left both of you. I’m sorry, Because I’m not good enough for you.
Thanks, Because both of you has given me the courage to move on. Thanks, For making me realize that we have to fight to live. Thanks, For giving me a purpose to live. Thanks, Because you’ve given me the greatest joy of all. Thanks, Because you’ve raised me. Because you’ve taught me to pray so that everyone that I love would be happy. Because you’ve changed my empty life.
Thanks, For being there with me.
Love,
Mars McTavish
PS: Enclosed is a self-addressed envelope with some stamps in case both of you want to write back.

Mars and Hurley walked back to the beach after finishing another ride around the plateau. “Hurley,” Mars said, “I think I better tell everyone about my ability.” “Whoa, dude. Just now you said that you don’t wanna be the centre of attention.” Hurley said, confused. “What made you change your mind?” “I’ve been thinking about what you said.” Mars explained. “And?” Mars sighed. “It’s hard for me to keep this situation to myself - it’s really hard to explain.” Mars paused. “Besides, the Almighty gave me this ability so that I can serve.” “That’s… so… deep, dude” Hurley said. Mars smiled.
---------------------------------------------
“That’s amazing.” Mars sighed, looking at her hands. “Yeah.” “Why don’t you tell your parents or your friends about this?” “I can’t.” Mars replied. “You know my parents are drunk. Besides --” The man stood up and put his hand on the brass doorknob. He glanced at Mars. “Come with me.”
On the wall of the conference room hung a massive painting of a waterfall. The man sat at the end of the shiny table. “Come, sit next to me.” the tall, brown-haired man offered. Mars pulled a chair and sat next to him. The man smiled slightly. Mars took a deep breath. “It’s really hard.” “I know.” the man said, putting his hand on Mars’ shoulder. “Why do I have this ability anyway?” Mars burst out, the veins in her neck bulging. “It’s not fair. I want to be normal again, like other people.” “Look on the bright side.” The man calmly said. “You can save people’s lives, you can… defend yourself; Mars, look. You can do lots of great things with your ability.” Mars gave the man an exasperated look. “Yes, I guess.”
“Look. You should be thankful that you survived and should be even more thankful for this ability that you possess.” Mars paused. “Yeah.” “You do know that the Almighty has a purpose for you, right?” “But not in this way!” Mars said, her voice rising. “What if the Almighty gave you this ability so that you can serve?” “Yeah, serve.” Mars replied sarcastically. “Last week this women fell and when I tried to heal her --” The man held up his hand before Mars could explode again. “Hear me out. I know it’s only been 5 months since the ‘incident’ and you might not have total control on your ability, but as time goes by, you’ll slowly gain control and when you do, I believe you can do great things.” Mars sighed and nodded. “It’s getting really late. I should go.” Mars stood up and put her chair back into place.
“Oh,” Mars said before opening the door. “Thanks, Pastor Evans.” “You’re welcome.” Pastor Evans smiled. -------------------------------------------------------------
Mars watched as people started to gather around for dinner. “How’s it going, Marzipan?” Sawyer walked towards her, a can of DHARMA beer on his hand. “Good. How ‘bout you?” “I’m great! I’ve been sittin’ on my tent, enjoying Skeletor’s leftover DHARMA beers.” Sawyer took a sip of DHARMA beer. Mars raised her eyebrow. “Come with me. I have something to say to all of you
Mars made her way towards the crowd and took a deep breath. “Hey everyone. Um, gather ‘round. I need to tell all of you something.”

Juliette and René got to Ben's house, René went to knock on the door when Juliette just walked right in. Ben was in his living room reading a book from his wheelchair. He peered up over his glasses. "Ah, I see we forgot how to knock again."
Juliette was annoyed and looked at Ben deadpan in the face, "Ben, you owe René some answers." Ben placed his book in his lap. "Alright. Do you mind then?" He stared back at Juliette motioning his hand to the door for her to leave. She looked at René reassuringly and left the house. Once gone, Ben asked René to "Please, have a seat" on the chair directly across from him.
René began to speak, "I'm sorry for the intrusion Ben, I hadn't expected,"
"It's not your fault René" He interrupted. "Juliette has, some, issues with me. But you already knew that." He smiled a bit at her.
"My dreams have gotten much more vivid lately. I swear I've seen my husband on more than one occasion and then this morning I had a visitor. I know I sound crazy. But it wasn't Shannon, I don't know who it was. I'm starting to get really scared here. I'm not sure I can stay he,"
"Did I ever tell you about when I was a boy," he paused "how i saw my mother? The mother who died giving birth to me." Ben had interrupted again. "The island is speaking to you, it wants you to listen. There is NOTHING to be frighted about." He reached and clasped his hands around hers that were sitting in her lap. "Everything that happens here, it's special, and Jacob has chosen to share these gifts with us."
"I'm being told to help him, who am I supposed to help and why the hell is it so cryptic?"
Ben let out a little laugh, but the gears in his mind were turning rapidly.
"The dream I had most recently, you were there." She looked down at her feet, she was embarrassed to give any more detail to him. Her heart began to beat rapidly at the thought of Ben lying in the bed with her. Ben was a little taken aback by that and released her hands.
"René, Jacob has plans for us all. We have journey's to take, people to help in every situation. He brought me Jack, to help me. He's brought us Zack and Emma." he took a deep breath, carefully choosing his next words. "I want to be able to help you feel more at ease, you tell me, and I will help you."
René looked back up at him. Those eyes staring back at her, eyes of a person she hadn't put so much trust into since her husband. She shook her head. "It's ok Ben, whatever happens, I'll listen to Jacob, I would never question him, or you."
"Ok then." He said smiling. She stood up and offered to make some tea for the both of them. He accepted and she moved into the kitchen. They began just making idle small talk when she remembered what she saw earlier in the morning.
"Ben, I hesitate to tell you this," she didn't really, "But this morning, when I was out at the swing set, I saw Jack leaving Jo's house."
"Really?" He sounded puzzled, again the gears moving in his mind at such a rapid speed. "Thank you René," he nodded "I'll have to speak to her about that." And they continued on drinking and talking about some recent books they had read.

Day 75 (flashback)
Later that day, Tom summoned Jo from Zoe’s bedside and escorted her to Ben’s house. He refused to tell her anything beyond warning that Ben was “in a mood” and she'd better not keep him waiting. Her heart pounded as she approached Ben's door, not knowing what to expect from him.
“Hello, Ben?” she called from the doorway. Ben waved her in from behind his desk, where he sat in his wheelchair.
“You’ve been careless, Joanna,” Ben frowned.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She responded, arms crossed defiantly.
Ben glared at her with his unnaturally wide eyes. “I understand you and Jack have been violating your restraining order. There’s a reason we’ve been keeping you apart. I really don’t want you to risk getting attached to him when he’s leaving the island in a few days.”
Jo couldn’t hold back a surprised laugh. “Ben, you’re joking, right? I knew Jack before I even stepped on the damned Oceanic flight. I was attached before I’d even met you! You know that, don’t pretend you don’t. It’s all in my file.”
Ben nodded in agreement. “But you have to understand, you’re one of us now. Jacob has given you a new life, a new purpose.” He lowered his voice dramatically, for emphasis. “A new family.”
Jo’s temper exploded, and she pointed her finger accusingly at Ben. “We might share the same blood, but you are not family. You chose to live a separate life, and never acknowledged I was your sister. You let me leave this island when I was three! How is that ‘family’?”
A look of astonishment crossed Ben’s face before he resumed his customary icy detachment. “I was never told I had a sister, it was all very secretive. I didn’t discover you had even existed until years after you left. This is not my fault, Jo.”
Jo remained unconvinced. “It doesn’t matter, Ben. Blood relation or not, you have no authority over me. I’m leaving on that submarine with Jack, Juliet and Zoe, and I’d like to see you try and stop me from that pathetic wheelchair.”
Ben smiled in amusement. “There are plenty of ways to stop you, Jo. You can believe that.”
Jo scoffed and walked out the door. “I don’t believe anything you say, Ben.”

Carrie arrived back at the survivors' camp after a walk back from the DHARMA van. Many of the survivors looked around, to see her, Sawyer, Charlie and Jin returning. People rushed towards them, desperate to greet Sawyer. Carrie, Charlie and Jin stepped aside, allowing the others to greet him. Carrie looked around, hoping for a sign of which tent was - or had been - Kelso's, but they all looked the same from the outside. "Charlie, which tent was Kelso's?"
Charlie looked at Carrie, reluctant to help her. "That one," he said, pointing to a nearby tent.
"Thanks." Carrie made her way into the tent, which she found was very warm.
"Hang on!" Charlie followed her in. "Who do you think you are? You come striding into the camp, after disappearing suddenly, Kelso disappeared the same day as you, now you come back asking where his stuff is, and he's still gone. I think we deserve some bloody answers! Where is he? Have you kidnapped him like you did Zoe and everyone else?"
"No," Carrie replied shortly, gathering together Kelso's belongings.
"What happened then?"
Carrie stopped momentarily. "Kelso's dead," she said quietly, but Charlie still heard.
"What?! Who killed him?"
"No-one," Carrie replied, standing up holding Kelso's bag, all his things now in it. "It was an accident." She tried to get out of the tent, but Charlie stood in her way.
"You're lying," he said. "Just like you lied about Zoe being pregnant. Why don't you tell the truth for once in your stinkin' life?!"
Carrie's eyes flared in anger. "Don't you dare judge me on my life, you have no idea what has happened in my life. If you knew me, you'd know that I wouldn't lie about things like pregnancies and death, especially not on this Island. I loved Kelso, I'd never make it up that he's dead." With that, Carrie pushed past him and out of the tent, making her way up the beach, towards the jungle.
"Hey, where are you going, Jackie?" Sawyer called after her.
"Jackie?" Carrie looked around at Sawyer.
"Y'all never watched That '70s Show?"
"Can't say I have. I've been here since 1999, there's a lot of TV I've missed out on. And in answer to your question, James, I'm going home. I've got Kelso's stuff. Tell Mars I say bye." With that, Carrie turned back towards the jungle, making her way back to the Barracks.
