Mars watched the crowd in silence and anticipation after she told them about her ability.
Kate scratched her chin. “Show us.” Mars pulled out her small army knife out of her pocket and carefully made a deep incision on the back of her left hand. Blood was now pouring from the gash on her arm - dripping down to the sand below, and Mars winced in pain as the crowd watched in shock.
Mars dropped the knife and quickly put her right hand on top of the wound - blue waves of electricity started to move from her hand to the wound, and within seconds the bleeding stopped and the wound is fully healed, leaving just a faint scar at the end. An audible gasp was heard from within the crowd.
“Hey, guys! Hey!” Everyone turned around and saw Charlie, walking hurriedly. “What are you guys doing?” he asked. “Nothing. Mars was just explaining to us this ability she has…” Kate explained. “Which could be useful for all of us.” she smiled. Mars smiled back. “What ability?” Charlie asked. Mars raised her eyebrows, pushed her arm forward, sending blue blots of electricity to a nearby coconut tree, causing it to sway back and forth and leaving black burn marks on the bark. Mars grinned. “Bloody hell.” Charlie murmured. “Now listen, listen, all of you. Kelso’s dead.” “What?” Kate said, her voice rising. She walked to Charlie. “How did you know this?” “I don’t know. I saw Carrie walking over to Kelso’s tent and she took his stuff with her. When I asked her where Kelso is, she said that he’s dead.” Charlie explained. “Wait. She told you that?” Sawyer asked, concerned. “By the way, Mars, Carrie said bye.” Mars nodded. Here we go again.
“Where did she go?” Kate asked Charlie shrugged. “I dunno. Back to the jungle.” “We need to do something, Kate.” Bernard added. “We need Jack.” “Kate started to walk away. “I’ll find him. I’ll go and find him tonight.” Kate then paused, turned around and looked at Mars. “I might need you to come with me.”

Day 76 René twiddled about the kitchen talking up a storm about her childhood. Riding horses, living in the country, being a tomboy all the girls hated because all the boys hung out with her. She was glowing. It had been a long time since she spoke so much about herself.
"Tea?" she asked.
"Please."
She realized she couldn't quite reach the tea on the top shelf where she had put it. She climbed up on the kitchen counter and was able to finagle her way into the cupboard. As she slipped down she accidentally pushed into him. She hadn't realized he had joined her in the kitchen. She turned around to face him. Some of the lines on his face were so hard, deep in thought. "Sorry" She half whispered. Neither one of them moved, just staring, studying each characters presence. Both being totally in the moment.
He grabbed her by the hips and lifted her onto the counter so she was sitting on top of it. She starred intently at him. Her hands clasping his face, thumb running over his bottom lip, she paid close attention to the small scars he had inherited from too many beatings. Her hair gently fell off her shoulders, he brushed it back, moving closer if it were at all possible.
Their foreheads were now touching, no words being spoken. He leaned into her neck and kissed it gently, slowly moving his hand down her shoulder onto her arm. She wrapped herself around him and they passionately kissed. Next thing they were in the bedroom. Everything was perfect, passionate and slow. Not a word was spoken.
Night began to fall, she looked over at him as he slept. His bare chest, slowly rising and falling. She rubbed her hand through his coarse hair noticing some hints of gray when she heard a noise. She slowly got up, not to wake him and grabbed her robe. She tiptoed out into the living room and saw a figure rocking in a chair.
"Hello?" she said with a bit of a tremor.
The figure leaned forward into the moonlight. She instantly recognized the face of Shannon. His short blonde hair, wide smile.
"It's ok to move on." He spoke softly and with a hint of a smile. "I need you to follow your heart. I'm letting go so you can move on; to help him" he nodded his head towards the bedroom as he said this.
René was frozen. "Goodbye René" and he was gone.
René jolted from her sleep, still in her bed, she grabbed at the space next to her and it was empty. Sweat poured from her brow. "A dream, Jesus Christ it was a goddamn dream" She began to sob uncontrollably. She didn't know what was worse, the realization that she was now letting go of her husband or realizing she was falling in love with Benjamin Linus. She wept until she fell back asleep.

Tired, Carrie sat down on a nearby rock. She looked up at the trees surrounding her, figuring she was about an hour away from the Barracks. She carefully unzipped Kelso's bag, looking inside. She felt a bit intrusive, looking in a dead man's belongings, but there couldn't be anything too shocking in there. Kelso hadn't kept any secrets from her - had he?
Mostly there were a few water bottles and some clothes. Carrie found his passport, but only glanced at it. After rooting around for a few more minutes, Carrie's hands rested on something small and hard - a book. She opened it, frowning. Kelso had never been much of a reader - back when they'd lived together, all of the books they'd owned had been hers.
Carrie was surprised to see the writing inside was handwritten. It was a journal. Since when did Kelso keep a journal - since when did he write? She ignored the voice in her head, telling her not to read it - he had been her best friend, she had a right to know what he'd writen. Surely there wasn't anything in there he wouldn't have wanted her to know?
Flicking through the pages, Carrie stopped when she saw her own name. The date signified he'd written it after a month on the Island, way before either of them had any idea of the other's presence. Kelso's messy handwriting wrote;
Been here for a month now. Don't even know if we're gonna leave at all anymore. Maybe we're all gonna die here, - Carrie held back a sniff. Now wasn't the time to cry. - who knows. The only thing I want, the only reason I want to go home, is to see Carrie again. It's been almost a year since our last phone call, and it wasn't very long. Her mysterious new job - well, it's not new anymore - keeps her busy. Yet, she's never happy to give away much information. She seems happy though. She said she is, and I could hear a smile in her voice when she said it. I miss her.
The day's entry finished there. Carrie shut the small book, unable to read anymore. She didn't even want to see his last entry. Hurriedly, she put it back in his bag. As she did so, Carrie noticed the overhead sunlight catching on something at the bottom of the bag. Curiously, she retreived it. Carrie felt a pang of mourning, realising it to be a photograph of her and Kelso, years ago - 9 years ago, to be precise. Carrie recognised the photo as the one which had been taken of them both at her eighteenth birthday party. They both looked so happy - it was after Carrie has escaped her mother, but before Kelso had started drinking. Neither of them knew he had less than ten years left of his life. Maybe if they had, Kelso wouldn't have drunk so. Or many he would have drunk more. But Carrie knew one thing - if she'd've known Kelso's destiny to die so soon, she wouldn't have accepted the job. She would have been with Kelso, not Richard. Things would have been so different.
Carrie's train of thought was interrupted by a sudden awareness of someone close by. She quickly tucked the photograph in her back pocket, zipped up the bag and stood up, looking around. There was a rustling in the trees. Carrie looked in the direction the noises were coming from, scared. Usually she wouldn't be so, but she didn't have a gun on her.
Carrie relaxed and smiled as Richard stepped out from within the bushes. He, too, looked relieved to see her.
"There you are," he said, stepping out fully and embracing her. "I was getting worried, where did you go?"
"I bumped into some of the survivors. Sawyer, Jin, Hurley and Mars. They were trying to jumpstart an abandoned old DHARMA van."
Richard smiled. "Did it work?"
"Eventually," replied Carrie. "But Mars told me something rather intriguing." Richard frowned, looking at her intently, which meant he was listening to her every word. "She said she had a dream, a realisitic dream, she said she wasn't sure if it was one or not ... but she said that she saw Kelso."
"What did he say?" Richard frowned.
"I dunno, Mars didn't tell me," Carrie lied.
"She's probably having hallucinations, from tainted drinking water perhaps." Richard stroked Carrie's hair. "Nothing to worry about, I'm sure."
Carrie smiled, and kissed him. She reached her arms around his neck, and he reached his around her waist, holding her close. Caught up in the moment, Carrie didn't think about Richard's hands reaching into her back pockets. He broke away from the kiss, holding up the photograph.
"What's this?" He said.
"Nothing, it's just-" Carrie began, but Richard had already opened the folded-up photograph. He looked at it, from the Kelso in the photo, to the Carrie in the photo, to the Carrie standing in front of him. She looked nervous, anxious even, about how he might react to discovering a picture of her and Kelso in her pocket. He was surprised, definitely, but he wasn't angry or upset. Of course, it was natural - she'd just lost her best friend. He could easily remember how upset he'd been, all those times, hundreds of years ago, when he'd lost people close to him.
"Hey, it's okay," Richard said comfortingly, kissing her forehead and holding her close to her chest. "I don't mind." He rocked her slightly, almost like a baby, as a few single tears rolled down her cheeks. She rest one hand on Richard's shoulder, and the other on his back.
"I love you," Carrie whispered, looking up at him. "You know that, don't you?"
"Yes, I do," Richard replied certainly. "I love you too."
Carrie smiled. "Shall we go back to the Barracks?"
"Sure," Richard smiled back. Carrie put the photograph back in her pocket, picked up Kelso's bag and made her way back to the Barracks with Richard, holding his hand.

"Ben help me don't just stand there." Sophie begged and screamed for her life as she took a blow to the head..........
Sophie jumped up quickly in bed woken from her dream. She had been dreaming a lot just lately. Stuff that felt familiar too her, like as they were her memories. The night before she dreamt ben pulled a trigger on a gun and shot her. All these bad dreams, but the man she knew as Ben was such a sweet gentle man too her. She suddenly got up and ran to the bathroom and throwed up. The morning sickness had kicked in but she had no idea she was even pregnant.
"Your quiet today." Ben noted as he wheeled himself through to the living area. Sophie glanced over as she sat on the window sill and nod quietly back. "Remembering things?" he asked.
"I dunno...." she sighed. "We're we close before?" she questioned. "I mean before i forgot who i was." she said with a frustrated tone.
"We had moments yes, but are relationship was......" he paused thinking of the right word to use. "Complicated..... Why do you ask?"
"I just been having some dreams lately, horrible nightmares of being hurt....." As sophie spoke and explained her dreams she noticed ben expression changed as if he felt guilty for what had happened to her. "It really happened didn't it?" she asked.
Ben nodded "If i could turn back time...."
"But you say, you told me we were in love? Why would you want to hurt me?" she butted in just wanting to find out the answer the truth.
"Because, someone like me. Shouldn't be in a relationship. Or in love." he sighed. "But i did. I thought with this amneisa it would be our new start. I do regret some of the actions i have done towards you" Ben comes closer and holds her hand. "If you let me, i want to be with you." he smiled tenderly.
Before Sophie could answer Juliet knocked on the door and came in. "Hope i'm not interupting" she said as she came in,
"No it's fine." Sophie smiled moving her hand away from Ben.
"What can i do for you Juliet?" Ben asked.
"Well i actully wanted to borrow Sophie. Just some test results." She smiled.
"Ok" Sophie nodded and smiled and went off with Jules

René sipped her coffee. Cindy walked into the kitchen.
"Where are Zack and Emma?" René looked down the hallway. They usually awoke when Cindy did.
"They're already out at the playground. I just popped in to grab some more coffee." René realized Cindy was already dressed and was just grabbing the backpacks. "We're going for a hike today, wanna join us?" Cindy was very enthusiastic.
René shook her head. "No, I've been sleeping very badly these past few nights. I need to clear my head. I'm just gonna pack my stuff and go out to the dock to paint today." she sipped some more coffee. "You're doing great with the kids by the way Cindy. You have adjusted well to the island."
"Thanks" Cindy gleamed from that statement. She waved at René and left her alone with her thoughts. She got up and went over to her stereo and grabbed one of her favorite cd's. She read aloud, "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, yeah right." She put it in and fast forwarded to track5. While it was on she sang to herself while packing her paints in her pack.
Mary walks Down to the water's edge And there she hangs her head To find herself faded A shadow of what she once was She said, how long have I been sleeping And why do I feel so old Why do I feel so cold My heart is saying one thing but my body won't let go With trembling hands she reaches up A stranger's flesh is offered And I would be the last to know I would be the last the let it show I would be the last to go
She sighed. Her heart was telling her something. That's why she was going. She couldn't face what she was feeling. Juliette was leaving and it tore into her. Her friend and one confidante. She didn't know who to turn to about this. It had been 13 years since she had feelings like this for anyone. She was angry, she knew she had to help him, but how and more off, why? Wasn't he out of danger now? Question after question filled her head until she felt like she was going to explode.
She breathed heavy, put her pack on. "Ok girl, you can do this, figure it out. You know one answer for sure right here and now. He can never be yours." She walked out the door and headed down to the docks.

Day 76
Jo stepped outside of the research lab and lazily stretched her arms in the bright sunshine. She was in a good mood; she and Jack had spent some quality time together the night before, and today she had been extremely pleased with the results of Zoe's physical exam. Zoe was healing rapidly, and would be walking around before Ben would - the thought of this made her smile with smug satisfaction. Another minor victory over Ben. Besides that, the date of the scheduled submarine departure was quickly approaching, and Jo was confident that she would be joining Jack, Zoe and Juliet on it.
She spotted Jack and Tom tossing a football in front of Ben's house and decided to join them, blatantly disregarding Ben's "restraining order."
Jo motioned for Jack to pass the ball to her, and he happily obliged. Tom turned to see Jo catch the ball behind him, clearly astonished by her brazenness. She waved a cheerful hello, then chucked the football at him.
The three of them tossed the ball in a triangle for a few minutes until Ben's commanding voice called to her from his porch. She glanced over to see him in his wheelchair, watching them carefully with his steely gaze.
"I really don't want to talk right now, Ben." she called back cheekily, and continued to toss the football. Jack tried, unsuccessfully, to hold in his laughter.
"I know why you're doing this, but it's not me you should be angry with," Ben called to her. Jo returned the football to Jack, then turned on her heels and marched up to Ben's porch, hands on her hips.
"Who is it then?" Jo snarled. Her cheerful mood had evaporated in an instant, and her budding affection for her only living family member already felt like a distant memory. "Because as far as I can see, you are the one that has made my life here a living hell." Jo reconsidered her words. "I take that back. You've had some help from Chase as well."
Ben smiled politely back at her, which only riled her up even more. "I've had a little help from someone else. You know Rene, don't you? She's the one that told me that Jack was visiting you in the night. It's time you realized there are no secrets here, Jo. I'm not the only one that watches our visitors."
Jo took a step backwards, stunned. She knew that Rene and Juliet were good friends and Jo, by default, trusted Juliet's judgment. She had thus respected Rene and had always been cordial to her, but that's as far as her feelings went. That was about to change, she thought to herself. "Where is she?" Jo fumed. Ben only blinked innocently. "How should I know?" he smirked, then wheeled back into his house and shut the door in Jo's face.

(if Jo can change her day to 76, I can post this, then it can be 77 after that)
Day 76
The docks were desolate. No one had been there since letting Michael and Walt go. René unpacked her paper pack and some watercolors and brushes. It was the best gift her old friend Dishongh could given her. But that was a long time ago and some of the items needed to be refilled.
The breeze was softly blowing so she pulled her hair back in a loose tie. She began sketching the coast line and dabbling some color on the paper. Her mind became at ease. No structured thought entered her brain as she worked and the relaxation of it put her in gleeful mood. About an hour had passed when she heard footsteps come up the dock.
She looked up and saw a tall stocky man approaching her.
"Hi Tom!" she yelled down to him. He walked right up to her and knelt down beside her.
"Nice! Always loved your work René."
"Thank you." She smiled.
"So, look. I've gotta go do something for Ben and he was wondering if you wanted to tag along. It's off island. He thinks I might need an extra pair of hands. I know it's not your specialty and all, but with Cindy watching Zacj and Emma we figured you were a good choice."
"Um, wow, I'm kinda stunned Tom. When do we go? Where are we going?" she inquired.
"New York, it's time we looked up an old friend to help us out a bit. And we need to go now. Pack your stuff, we leave in an hour."
René quickly packed everything, dumped her water out and let the colors all run together on her picture. This was the best opportunity to get farther away from the one person she felt she should have the most space from. Even if it meant she was slightly dismissing what Jacob asked of her. In fact, she thought, perhaps this is exactly what Jacob wants.
******************************************************
René spread out on the soft satin sheets of her king size bed taking a gigantic sigh of relief. "Gonna miss is this in a few days."
"Take advantage, we don't get to splurge that often" Tom said with a smile as he walked over to the over sized window and threw open the curtains to reveal the unique night time New York skyline. She sat up and looked out. "Wow."
"Takes your breath away huh?"
"Yeah, I've never been to the East coast before, let alone New York at night, in person."
Tom chuckled. "I think maybe that's why Ben chose you to come. Let ya out a bit, get some air." He sat down across from her in one of the chairs. "He trusts you René, and I can say from experience, Ben's got some trust issues."
René looked at him a bit blankly. Obviously he knew much more about Ben than she had try to learn over the 4 years she'd been on the island.
"Well, I ordered some food. I've gotta go out and convince our friend to do a little bit of work." Tom walked over to grab his coat.
"Do you think he'll do it? You really think Michael will help after what happened?" she was more curious to Tom's body language response than his answer.
"Oh, we'll get him." He said very confidently and strolled out the door.
René walked back over to take in the view again. "So surreal. It's just not home" her thoughts wandered back to the Island, and her family there.

Day 76
Zoe had been keeping herself to herself the past couple of days, she was impaiently waiting for the 10th of December. That was when Jack had predicted Ben would be nursed well enough for him to have completed his deal, and he, Juliet and Zoe could leave the island on the promised submarine. There was much to prepare for, and with it being the 6th of December, Zoe realised there was still much she needed to do before she left. For starters, she made plans to go back to camp, where she could collect all her things and perhaps steal a sneek moment with Charlie before he was lost to her forever. She was fully recovered now, and able to walk, but the pre-eclasima still hung heavy in her thoughts.
With the boss being pre-occupied with recovery from his surgery, Zoe found it easy to prepare a bag for a quick trip back to her old camp. She slipped out the back door of her house, she was easily trusted now Ben was certain she was on his side, although, a look of disappointment crossed his face when Zoe informed him she was taking up Jo's deal, that she wanted off the island, and Zoe was surpirsed how accepting he was. Very uncharacteristic of the Ben she had known so far. She was probably right to be cautious, afterall, unkown to her, Ben was busily theorising ways to prevent her, Jack and Juliet to get what they wanted, of leaving the island forever.
It didn't take long for Zoe to get back to camp. It was a long treck, which was why she had left in the early hours of the morning, when it was still dark. She had seen Alex the previous day to get the code for the sonar fence that she recalled one of the Others had talked about. She passed through without a problem, the code had worked. It was midday now when Zoe arrived just half an hour away from camp, and surprisingly, she heard voices. Familiar voice. Hurley, Jin, Sawyer...and...it couldn't be... her luck wasn't that good was it? Yes it was Charlie. Zoe entered the clearing to find them surrounding an old dharma scooby van, Sawyer and Jin drinking dharma beer and goofing around with a skeleton. Eww Zoe thought to herself. Hurley was busily fiddling with the engine, and Charlie was watching, Vincent sat by his side. They all looked over at Zoe when she entered and stared dumbfounded, and then to Zoe's surpise, she noticed Carrie. She frowned to herself slightly, wondering what she was doing here, but ignored her for now, she wasn't interested in her since the way she had treated her at the hydra, not to mention trying to kill her in the jungle, despite, in her oppinion, her half arsed poor excuse of an apology. There was another girl too, a girl that Zoe wasn't too familiar with, she wasn't even sure she knew her name, she had been absent from the camp so frequently, she only knew a select few of the survivors, probably not even half the plane crash survivors.
"Hi guys." Zoe breathed, she felt her cheeks heat up as she blushed softly. Charlie ran up to her.
"Hey, what happened to you? With Henry..or Ben, whatever his name is. Michael, Ana Lucia, Libby!" Charlie demmanded. At the mention of Libby's name, Hurley looked up at her. Zoe stared at Charlie softly, an expression of sadness across her face.
"I'm sorry Charlie, I had to lie. If I didn't co-operate, they threatned to raid camp, they threatned to hurt you. I couldn't let that happen Charlie." Zoe explained. She the looked up at Hurley. "I'm sorry about Libby, Hurley. Michael - he acted to rash. I would never had allowed it to happen if I knew what he had planned on." Hurley didn't reply. He gave her a cold stare and went back to work.
"Charlie, I need to talk to you, but first, I need to gather my things. I have to go back to the beach camp and gather my things to go back to where I've been staying." Zoe started to explain. Charlie opened his mouth to talk, but Zoe silenced him by shaking her head and putting a finger on his lips. "Please, don't bombard me with questions yet. I'll tell you everything. I promise. But my time is limited here, so please, continue what you are doing here, and I'll meet you when I'm done, and we can talk. Ok?" Charlie said nothing for a moment while he thought, then relucatantly, he nodded.
"Thank you,Charlie." Zoe smiled at him softly, and kissed him, before heading down the hill and towards the beach camp.
Upon arrival at the beach, several people came striding up to her, demmanding questions right away, wanting to know if she'd seen Jack and Jo. Zoe wavered them away. She didn't have time to talk, so she didn't she gave them the silent treatment until she had everything packed and ready to go. She couldn't tell them the truth, that she would be leaving the island. That Jo had managed to get her, Jack and herself rescued. Zoe hadn't learned yet of Jo's relation to Ben, and had already assumed she had bargained her way off the island. Once satisfied that everyone seemed healthy, as she had left them, with exeception of Libby and Ana, Zoe made her way back towards where she knew Charlie was, heaving her bag of stuff over her shoulders.
As Zoe walked through the jungle, she soon came across the hill she had walked down to get back to beach camp, and to her suprise, the old vauxwagon was now at the top, and she could see in the far distance, just making out three figures pushing the vehical down the hill, and made out two figures in the van.
The van was now racing down the hill, in her direction, faster and faster. Zoe heard the engine roar, and was shocked that Hurley actually managed to get it working. Zoe dived out the way when she was certain the van was going to crush her between some very daunting looking rocks, but the van veered off just in time and came to a halt. Charlie hopped out, and smiled at her, before tapping the van for Hurley, thanking him, a meaningful and significant thank you which Zoe didn't understand what for but let it brush aside. In the distance, figures were running down the hill towards the van. Sawyer, Carrie, Mars and Jin no doubt.
Charlie saunted over to her, and helped her with her bags as they veered off into the jungle to have their private conversation.

René decided to take Tom to his word and take advantage. She called downstairs and made sure the shop had a dress ready for her. She showered and dolled herself up. There was a knock on the door, bell hop delivering her dress and food. She completed her look and headed out to catch a show.
"Would you like a cab ma'am?" The doorman asked as she stepped out to the street. "Yes please, thank you." she nodded. He hailed the cab down, as it pulled up he asked where she wanted to go. "I've been dying for some good sushi." She smiled.
"You want Nabu, world-class, and fitting for the beauty you are this evening Miss." René blushed at his compliment.
"Nabu, over in Tribeca," said the doorman.
"Got it," said the cabby with a heavy Bronx accent.
René climbed in the cab.
They pulled up to the restaurant, she paid the cab driver and stepped out. She walked in and the host asked her name. "René Shaw" she looked puzzled, no way would there be a reservation...
"Aw yes, table for one, it was called in by a Mr. Moriarty. Please, come this way."
René was a bit un-nerved. Who was Mr. Moriarty and how in the hell did he know she would be here right now this evening? She decided to ask questions later, and welcome the fact that she was going to enjoy herself this evening.
She sat down and ordered some her favorites and decided to let the chef choose a few rolls for her as well. In the middle of enjoying her meal she heard a voice she had not heard in years.
"René? René Coomber? Is that you?" The voice got higher and higher with anticipation at seeing her old friend from college. She was a stunning looking woman, shorter, but pure skin, dark hair and eyes. She was all heart which René remembered most.
René stood to greet and hug her old friend. "Oh my goodness, Ally, it's been ages." Ally sat at René table for a quick catch up. René laughed, "WOW, I haven't been called Coomber in LONG time."
"Your married then, congrats," Ally beamed.
René fake smiled. "I-I was, he passed away some years ago."
"Oh, I'm so sorry René"
"Oh, it's ok, we haven't seen each other in forever anyway." she brushed it off. "What are you doing in NY?" she quickly directed the conversation back.
"I work at Merrill lynch. It's not grand, but it pays my bills. I do some theater work on the side. That's why were here tonight, celebrating our latest smashing review." she hardily laughed.
"What are you doing?" Ally inquired back.
"Oh, me, I'm a child psychologist and Illustrator. I basically get them to talk about feelings through painting. It's nothing complex, and I really enjoy it."
"Are you freelance or work for a hospital or something?"
"Freelance. I've been contracted out over the past few years. Just in town for a few days vacation."
"Oh, whom with?" Ally pried
Just then there was a loud commotion of plates smashing in the kitchen. Ally and René looked at each other and giggled. "Well," Ally said as she stood up, "I won't keep you any longer. It was great to see you again. Here, let me write down my number for you the next time your in town." She pulled out a pen from her purse and scribbled her number on a napkin and handed it to René. "You take care." she said with a fond smile.
"You too Ally, you too."
René watched her friend go back to the large group she was with. Finished her meal and asked for the check. "Oh, ma'am, no charge this evening. Your meal has been paid for" the waiter said and motioned to her friend's table. René looked over and Ally held a glass of champagne up to her. René smiled back, and headed back to the hotel. She was now eager to find out if Tom was going to be needing any further help. The only reason she could really think why she was there, was to visit Walt.

Day 77
Jo knew Zoe had returned to the camp and couldn't help worrying about her, but there was absolutely no medical reason to prevent her from going. Part of her wished she could have gone with Zoe to see her old friends again, especially Bernard and Mr. Eko and to visit Libby's grave, but Jo knew she had to stay close to Ben to make sure he didn't interfere with her plans to leave the island. She had made Zoe promise to bring back a full report on the survivors, and more importantly to turn around the moment she felt any complications from either her pre-eclampsia or her recent surgery.
She wandered outside and sat on a swing, lost in her thoughts. Everything seemed to be going a little too smoothly lately, and Jo didn't trust her good fortune. Ben had sent Chase away on a secret assignment and Jo was grateful for the distance. Her temper had cooled since yesterday, but she knew she would have some choice words for Rene as soon as she returned from her own secret assignment. But right now, she mostly felt content.
Jack joined her on the swings and they sat quietly for a few minutes until Jo broke the silence. "Something has been bothering me, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it until just now."
"What is it?" he asked, concerned.
“They’re not my people, Jack. You said ‘your people’ in the operating room.”
Jack rubbed his head, trying to remember. "I'm not sure I follow."
Jo sighed. "At the Hydra, when Chase and I were treating Ben's infection, I asked you why you were there. You said that my people were in a room deciding whether or not to execute Juliet. Why did you call them my people?"
Jack looked puzzled. "I don't know. I guess you've been with them longer than you've been with the Oceanic survivors, and you've achieved some level of trust from them. You're not like them, but...sometimes it seems like you belong with them."
Jo felt a strange sense of de ja vu. Ben had reiterated time and again that she belonged with them, and she had bitterly fought this fate. What was Jack seeing that made him believe it as well?
"No, Jack." She replied sternly. "I don't belong here, and I never will. I'm leaving with you on that sub, and I'm never looking back."
Jack grabbed her hand and squeezed it. His eyes met hers, and she melted under the intensity of his gaze. "Nothing would make me happier."

Day 77
It was the early hours of the morning when Zoe had returned to the barracks. Her face was tear stained after her conversation with Charlie. As predicted, it had been heartbreaking, and she was surpised at how well he had taken everything she had to say, but at the same time, what he had to tell her, although the truth, and the hurtful truth, what she had predicted about him was right, and so she decided to not tell him about the baby.
Pushing down her hurt though, as soon as Zoe had slipped back into her house through the back door, she wrote down the instructions that Charlie had given her. She had decided to tell him partial truth about what had happened to her, and what was going to happen to her. The truth being everything but the pregnancy, and her recent surgery. That she had been working for the Others, she had gained their trust, and now they were letting her leave the island. Charlie was very accepting and had agreed to keep everything she had told him quiet, so long as she promised to carry out some favours for him until he was rescued, or incase he never was, and Zoe agreed without a hesitant thought.
On her journey back, she had repeated the address and telephone number he had told her that was most important. So long as she had that, everything else he had asked her to do would be easy enough to carry out from then forth. She wrote down a Sydney address and telephone number, but didn't bother labelling whose it was. She knew she wouldn't forget. Afterall, in more then one way, she was now connected with them, and they would soon find out that they would become family. Once the address and phone number was written down, she folded the note and placed it in the back of her jean pocket. She then sank down to the floor, her head in her knees that were secured by her arms wrapped round them and sobbed again.
I love Claire ringing through her ears, her sorrow and despair was soon interrupted by a sudden knock on the door.

Carrie and Richard had been walking for a while now. They were reaching the sonar fence that surrounded the Barracks. Carrie's feet were aching, but Richard was unfazed. It was, Carrie supposed, due to the large amount of years he'd spent on the Island.
While they'd been walking, they'd been talking too. There were so many things they'd both kept close to their chests, things they were so desperate to say but were scared about how the other might react. But now, it was all out in the open. They'd told each other everything they'd ever wanted to. Richard had told Carrie of how he'd come to the Island, all the people he'd lost, exactly why he couldn't age. Carrie, in turn, had told Richard about her parents, her relationship with Kelso, her struggles as an adolescent. Of course, Carrie's tales were nothing compared to Richard's, but he listened all the same.
"Can we sit down?" Carrie asked as they emerged from the jungle, and were faced with the sonar fence. "My feet are killing me."
"Sure," Richard replied, and they sat down on a nearby log. Carrie took her shoes and socks off, to let her feet breathe a bit. She leant against Richard, as he put his arm around her. She smiled happily as they both sat there together. After a minute or two, Carrie looked up at Richard.
"How old are you, exactly?" She asked.
"Do you really wanna know?" Richard laughed. "You might get a bit freaked out."
"I do," Carrie said, sitting up. "I'd rather know than spend my whole life wondering. Besides, I've asked you before and you've avoided it. I wanna know."
Richard hesitated. "Okay," he said, before proceeding to tell Carrie just how old he was.
Carrie was silent for a moment. "Shocked?" Richard said.
"A little bit," she replied. "I knew you were older than you look, but ..."
"Not that old." Richard finished Carrie's sentence for her. She nodded silently. "I did say you'd get a bit freaked out."
"I'm not freaked out," Carrie replied, looking straight at him. "I'm not at all freaked out. I'm just a bit shocked."
Richard placed his hand on Carrie's neck, running her hair through his fingers. "Your opinion of me's not gonna change, is it?"
"Course not," Carrie smiled, placing her arms around his waist and kissing him. "Why would it?"
Richard didn't reply, only smiled and kissed her back. He held Carrie close, not wanting to let her go. He knew, by her reaction, that Jacob had been right - she was special. Of course, he'd known it before, but this pretty much confirmed it. When he'd told other people in the past - whether it be a leader, one of the people he'd become good friends with, or one of the other women he'd been in love with long ago - they'd all been more wary of him, knowing how old he was. But Carrie, she didn't care. He was still the same person to her. She could handle the extremeties that the Island threw at her.

Day 77
Jo rapped on Zoe's door and gave Jack, standing beside her, a playful wink. She had been relieved to see Zoe sneak back into the Barracks and into her house earlier that day, and had asked Jack to come with her to check on Zoe, and to give her the happy news: the submarine would be departing in just two days.
Zoe didn't respond to her knock, so Jo rapped again, a little more loudly. Still no response. Jo pushed the door open and saw Zoe curled up on the floor, sobbing. Unsure of what to do, she motioned to Jack to stay behind. "Let me talk with her alone," she whispered to him. "Come to my house later tonight."
Jack kissed her softly and followed her advice, closing the door behind him. Jo walked over to Zoe and crouched down so that they were nearly at eye level with each other. She reached out to wipe a tear from Zoe's cheek.
"Zoe, what happened to you?" she asked softly.
Zoe looked up at her, her eyes filled with sadness and pain. "It's Charlie," she began.
"I'll make some tea," Jo offered. "And I'll stay with you as long as you need me to."

Day 78
It was after midnight by the time Jo stepped outside Zoe's house. She left feeling distinctly troubled. Instinct told her that Zoe was leaving something out of her story, something very important, and she knew it had something to do with Charlie. Yet Jo chose not to pry; she hoped that Zoe would trust enough in their friendship to give her the whole truth in time. It was bad enough that Charlie had declared his love for Claire; Zoe's broken heart would take some time to heal.
Zoe also told her that Kate and Sawyer had arrived back at the camp safely, and that Carrie had managed to infiltrate the surivors' camp as well. This didn't sit well with Jo, either. What was Carrie doing there, and why? Was it Ben's instructions? Why was she trying to gain the survivors' trust? This could only end badly, she knew...
Then she smiled, remembering that in two days it would no longer matter. Zoe seemed comforted somewhat by the thought of leaving the island in two days, and Jo was happy to see her renewed determination. Soon they could all start their lives over.
Jo headed home to wait for Jack's visit and was completely caught off guard by the scene that met her there. Four of Ben's most loyal men waited for her in her living room, armed with guns, and ambushed her the moment she stepped inside.
"What the hell..." Jo began, but she was cut off by Ryan.
"Get on the ground!" he yelled. Jo was pushed down roughly and her hands were pulled behind her and handcuffed. One of the men pushed the others out of the way and scolded them for being too rough with her. He helped Jo to her feet.
"I'm sorry, Jo. The boss ordered you under house arrest. You've been taking too many liberties, see, and he's not happy about it."
"I'm a damn prisoner again? This is insane!" she screamed.
Ryan shrugged apologetically. "You're welcome to return to your cell in the Hydra, if you prefer. Besides, it's only for a little while to make sure you stay out of the way until the submarine leaves. Ben isn't ready to give you up quite yet."
"Ben doesn't control me!" she yelled in his ear.
Ryan ignored her protest. "Don't worry, you'll have some company. Dr. Chase is back from his assignment and will be shacking up with you for the time being, won't that be nice? Just like old times."
Jo spat in Ryan's face. "Don't you dare," she growled.
"You have no choice, Jo." She heard Chase's straightforward response from the doorway, where he stood watching the scene with his arms folded. "You're staying here."
Jo felt nauseous. It looked like Ben might win this battle after all.

Day 79
That night René slept like a baby, the best uninterrupted sleep in over two weeks. She woke to the phone ringing. She groggily whacked at it until she had it in hand. "Yeah,"
"Wakey wakey."
"Oh, hey Tom." René let out a big yawn. "How'd it go last night?"
"Great, he showed up in no time and every thing's in place. Looks like you won't need to be making any extra visits today."
"Oh, well, that's good. Not sure it would have gone over well anyway."
"Ah, come on René. Walt always liked you." Tom laughed. "Well, get showered and ready. We leave in the next hour." René hung up the phone and stretched. She'd miss the small amount of pampering she got, but it was time to go home, were she felt the most comfortable.
***************************************************
René grabbed her pack and headed off the sub onto the dock. In the distance she could see a very irate looking Jo in the distance. "Oh s**t."
"What's wrong?" Tom asked
"I think Jo's here for me, and I think she's a little pissed." Tom laughed and walked towards the end of the dock. He smiled at Jo as he walked passed her. "Tom." She acknowledged him but kept fixated on René. She was hell bent on making sure in the future, that René keep things to herself and René knew it.
"Who the hell do you think you are telling Ben ANYTHING about me or what you see? Ben told me how you "tattled" on me René." Jo angrily confronted René but did her best not to raise her voice.
"I'm someone who cares about this Island and the people that are supposed to be here Jo. I'm also doing my job." René began to walk back towards the barracks and Jo stayed right in tow of her.
"What happens between Jack and I are private."
René laughed a bit. "Private, please Jo, nothing on this island is ever private when it comes to whom is sleeping with whom here." René stopped in her tracks and faced Jo. "I don't know you that well Jo, maybe we can remedy that in the future, but in the meantime please understand this. I'm here to serve Jacob and by doing so it means full trust and communication with Ben. This is my home and I won't let anyone get in the way of destroying it. Stick around Jo, and you'll soon understand why."
"I'm not sticking around René, when Jack, Juliette and Zoe get on that sub, I'm going with them."
René took a step back, she was taken off guard and a bit stunned.
"Well, if Ben says you can go, then that's that I guess. I gotta get back to unpack." René began her trip back up the hill when Jo reined her back in. "Where'd you and Tom go andway?" She really didn't expect René to answer her.
"To see Michael, Jo. And if you say anything else to those Others, Ben will make sure you stay here." With that, René left Jo taken aback and just lingering trying to evaluate what her and Tom could possibly be doing by seeing Michael.

Day 79 [takes place before Ali’s last post]
Jo paced around the living room anxiously. Chase had been following her from room to room, allowing her very little privacy, and two of Ben’s men stood guard outside her house, making escape virtually impossible. She brainstormed furiously, but the situation appeared hopeless.
Chase sidled up to her and held her arms firmly to stop her from pacing. “I know how you feel about me, and I know that I’ve destroyed any chance of a trusting relationship between us. You have no idea how sorry I am, for all of it. I want to help you – please believe that. No matter what you think, I’m not the enemy.”
Jo tried her hardest to remain stubbornly unmoved.
Chase continued. “The sub returns today with Rene and Tom, which means that Jack, Juliet and Zoe will be on their way as soon as it has been refueled and prepared for its next trip – probably tomorrow night. If there is anything in my power that I can do for you before that happens, tell me." His eyes pleaded with her.
Jo’s stomach churned. As much as Chase wanted to help – and Jo was struck by the authenticity of his remorse - his loyalty to Ben would never waiver, and she could not depend on him to help her escape. She knew that he still loved her, even after everything they had been through, and her heart stirred the tiniest bit as she remembered how much she used to love him too. Jo fought back the sudden flood of tears. There was something that he could do for her. She knew her words would hurt Chase, but she had to say them. It was her only chance. She spoke very softly. “I’d like to say goodbye to Jack.”
Chase nodded, and reached for his walkie-talkie. “Consider it done,” he answered briskly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jack walked in, escorted by the two front-door guards. Chase respectfully removed himself to another room to give them some semblance of privacy. Jack reached for Jo and kissed her. He whispered in her ear, pretending to kiss her cheeks and hair.
“Last night I removed the window pane on your bathroom window from the outside. Nobody is stationed in the back. From there it’s only about ten feet to the tree line. Wait about an hour from now, and I’ll make sure the area is clear. You’ll have to move quickly. Meet me in the sub,” he murmured in her ear, kissing her repeatedly.
“That’s enough, Shephard.” One of the sentries approached Jack and rudely pried him away from her. “Say your goodbyes.”
Jack kissed Jo one final time with unabashed tenderness. “I will come back for you,” he said aloud.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jo followed Jack’s instructions and easily slid through the bathroom window. It was the one place that Chase didn’t follow her. A sudden providential rainstorm ensured that nobody was lurking outside her home, and her path was clear. Jo ran for the jungle’s cover and headed straight for the submarine dock. She stopped short when she spotted Rene and Tom disembarking. She knew by Rene's expression that she had been spotted as well.
‘Just play it cool,’ Jo reminded herself. ‘They can’t possibly know about the house arrest. Pretend you belong here.’ As soon as she passed this next hurdle, she would hide in the jungle until she could safely sneak aboard the submarine. Word would soon get out about her escape, and of course the sub is the first place they would look for her.
As Jo watched Rene approach her end of the pier, her blood began to boil again as she remembered Rene’s betrayal. Instead of blaming herself for being careless, she chose to blame Rene for her current situation. Rene and all the Others had made her life miserable for the last time. She had been the one to tell Ben about breaking the “restraining” order between herself and Jack, and Jo wanted to make sure that she would pay for it.
Jo passed Tom on her way to Rene, acknowledging him with a curt “Tom” and a nod of her head. Her gaze fixed on Rene, she charged towards her, fueled by her anger.
