I was fine with the prospect of either of them winning, to be honest. Well, of course, I'd have liked it if Michael won, but Terry deserved an award just the same. From what I've read on the Internet in anticipation of the Emmys, it seemed that many people predicted that Masi Oka would win. For me, is better would win Masi Oka, but not Terry . But I do not know, that Michael thinks about it

I am happy that the Emmy stayed with LOST. I thought that T.R. Knight might get the pity award, or Mike Imperioli, the suck-up-to-the-Sopranos award, or William Shatner, the let's-give-an-award-to-Shatner-just-because award. don´t get me wrong but why the pity award for T.R Knight? He does a great job on Grey´s Anatomy!

Plus, if someone else other than Terry won, I don't think he would give a shout-out to 'the great and glorious Michael Emerson'. And we won't be able to see that lovely closeup of Michael. ;D EXCELLENT point! That lovely smile (captured so well in jade_melody's banner) will carry me through another month or so of this interminable hiatus.

My heart bleeds.. At us is late night. I bring the apologies if has offended someone personally, I very much worry for Michael. Seriously, greenleaf, I think Michael is fine. I don't think you have offended anyone, but I think you are making too much of what is pretty much a crap shoot. Yes, sometimes you hear about casts who hate each other and indulge in petty jealousies, but I think Michael and Terry are both consumate professionals. I get the impression that they enjoy working with each other because working opposite a great actor challenges you to be better. I'm sure Michael has the satisfaction of knowing that his own performance helped Terry to shine such that he captured the Emmy. I am worried about you losing sleep, when I feel quite confident that Michael did not fret about it more than maybe a momentary twinge of disappointment when he did not hear his name called. However, I totally agree that we should send a fan Emmy made of love to Michael, just to give him a boost to know how much we all care!

Methinks Isaiah deserves the pity award, not T.R. It must be difficult going through life as a jerk*. *to put it much more nicely than I would like to.

Oh my, what a discush. My $.02:
I am disappointed on a personal level Michael didn't win. But on a more objective level, he already has an Emmy, and it's not like he won't have a chance to win one again, or an Oscar or what I suspect is his true heart's desire, a Tony. So a moment of disappointment and move on.
Terry was a total class act, taking time to pay tribute to another talent who he knows well from personal experience is his equal, if not his better. And he got in some licks with the remarks about the (relatively) cushy work on Wisteria Lane and getting paid prolly 4 to 5 times more. (I mean geez, McDreamy get's what, $1.something million an ep, Zac Braff in the neighborhood of $300k. What are the Lost cast members paid? I'm guessing in the low to mid $100,000. Maybe some of them have cracked $200,000. I'm hoping for Terry's sake his Emmy win will let him barter for better salary. That should be one of the benefits of getting those awards.
From what I understand, the "Lost" cast is paid far less than the actors on any of the other top 10 shows, and the "Lost" actors didn't draw the cheers like the other shows did. "Lost" lost out in every category except Terry's win to which they were nominated, and they were got the short shrift in nominations in the first place. For whatever reasons, "Lost" is a semi-pariah. I suppose that's why I like it. It is a bit of an oddball in some respects, and I'm alway attracting to oddballs. They always strike me as more "real."
Award shows aren't fair. How can they be? They're about judging a quality that is a really hard to measure objectively. Games and races are easy: who makes the most points, crosses the finish line first wins. But acting is like figure skating. It takes a certain level of skill and ability to reach national and world competition levels and after that it's all subjective opinion. Every one of those actors nominated is the creme-de-la-creme, but still other forces creep in. T.R. Knight is a great actor, but I think he made this year's list because of Isaiah Washington's remarks. It was a sympathy nod, and it was politics.
What's more, acting awards are entertainment shows. You don't see all the hoopla and two-hour preshow red-carpet runway chit-chat at the Nobel ceremonies. There aren't even ceremonies as such for the Pulitzers, the Franklin awards and any of the number of awards and prizes to scientists and others. And any one of these individuals is actually doing something as a profession to make the world a better place, to try to increase our understanding of the world we live in and to solve its problems.
So all that said, yeah, it would have been nice to have seen Michael Emerson go up and say his speech. But we got Terry, and he did a bang up job. And now that it's all over (but the shouting), it's time to think about what's coming up in that first episode in Feb. I really am beginning to think this multi-character centric business could take "Lost" to another level, if it's done right.

The Emmys are never fair. But well, it's just the Emmys. What counts is that he has fun in what he is doing...... acting. And it's fun for for him. And he has fans who appreciate his work. Of course an Emmy isn't bad. But yeah, he has one already, and I bet he wins next year ;P And Terry deserved his Emmy too. He's a really talented guy.
I don't know if they are friends, but I'm sure they don't hate each other... and very certainly not because of an Emmy....

Michael Emerson has said in interviews that he enjoys working with Terry O' Quinn; I was glad that Terry O' Quinn gave a shout out to him and that he was shown for more than a split-second.
