You should get a look at the pic of him at the Post-Gazette site. It's the Michael portion of the TV guide cover. Click on the "view all images" link to get a bigger view. yay that is great but why the hell they always cutting off the lower parts of photos he looks more gorgeous full-length

Thanks for the review (she sure caught more nuances of the play than I did, or at least that I can remember; I'm glad she agrees with me on the "musical frivolity"; I don't feel like quite such a philistine now!) and also for the tip about clicking on the "view all images link." I wouldn't have known about that as my browser automatically filters out Javascript. BTW, if you want to bypass all that, I tracked down the direct link to the full-size (though unfortunately not life size! ) image: www.post-gazette.com/pg/images/200808/michaelemerson_500.jpgBTW, I apologize, but I f-locked my journal late last week because I wasn't comfortable with so many people I didn't know reading it. You guys here in the forum are OK, of course, but I had really written that in a hurry so I wouldn't forget anything and then gone straight to bed, planning to edit it and post a more public version the next day when I was able to think more clearly, but I didn't get the chance before it started getting mass exposure. I'm still working on my story and will let you know as soon as it's "ready for prime time." (Meanwhile, I really do appreciate all your comments, and it's been nice getting to know you better as a result. I wish I didn't have to f-lock it, but I didn't want Google picking it up, along with all my other personal postings and fangirly squees! Of course, if you have an LJ, you're welcome to friend me if you want and continue the discussion there.) PS: Glad someone else remembers Jonathan Frid! (He is a really, really nice guy by the way. I've met him twice, even saw him in a play a couple of years ago in his hometown (he only lives a couple of hours from here), and I had a long conversation with someone who worked as his assistant sometime in the '90s. In fact, he runs his own fansite, at http://www.jonathanfrid.com.) Another actor I'm reminded of is David Warner, who seems to have an outright fan-phobia; he even refuses to write his memoirs because, he says, he doesn't want to have to do a book signing! That comment Michael made to the fan who drove all the way from Washington ("D.C., I hope!") reminded me all too vividly of something David Warner said to me when I saw him in "King Lear" in England. He asked where I was from, and when I told him exactly where in America (cuz he'd already surmised the America part by my accent, duh!), he said, "You didn't come all the way here just for this, did you?" Well, it was partly true (the timing of my trip at least; I mean how could you possibly miss someone who's been your favorite actor for close to thirty years playing King Lear when you already missed his legendary Hamlet because you were too young to have even heard of Hamlet back then???), but I totally denied it, knowing he would turn around and run--or call security--if I said yes! Anyway, Michael seems much more outgoing than David Warner ever was, but I would still hate for him to develop that kind of "fan-phobia"! (I so wish David would write his memoirs if only to explain what horrible thing his fans had done to make him so wary of us!)

*sigh* I'm really tempted to join LJ, it seems like such a fun community!! But I'm not sure I really need yet another online distraction during the workday...

When I met John Green last week in Michigan he asked if I came all the way from MA just to see him! I told him no, but it was really more like 3/4 yes and 1/4 no.

I know what you mean, Tigerlily! LJ keeps me from getting a lot of other things done that I really should be doing. At the same time, I've made some great friends from around the world I'd never have met otherwise. When I met John Green last week in Michigan he asked if I came all the way from MA just to see him! I told him no, but it was really more like 3/4 yes and 1/4 no. LOL, yeah, I guess we all know what the "right" answer is! ("What? Who me? Nah, I was just passing through the neighborhood and thought I'd see what all the commotion was about. Are you somebody famous?") Considering how common that question seems to be, now you've got me wondering whether that's universal celebrity code for, "Are you a stalker?" ("No, John, we don't have a code for 'There's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head.' But obviously we should.") PS: Sorry if this is a stupid question, but who's John Green?

Ah, Mooncove, you're a treasure of fan info. I like David Warner as well. He looks peculiar and yet distinguished. I'm a fool for that.

John Green is a YA author who also makes videos on youtube with his brother Hank. www.youtube.com/user/vlogbrothers

Aw, thanks, Greenleaf. Although I don't feel worthy to be posing next to such a gorgeous and incredibly nice man! (Not that I'd trade the experience for anything in the world, mind you.) BTW, if anybody wants to (re-)read the story (I revised it a bit thanks to some of your questions and also embedded Julie's video), you can find the new link in the gallery now under "Michael Emerson sightings" --> "At Chautauqua." Thanks for your patience with me, especially Edith. Ah, Mooncove, you're a treasure of fan info. I like David Warner as well. He looks peculiar and yet distinguished. I'm a fool for that. Oo yeah, I've always been a fool for character actors with distinctive looks. None of those pretty, plasticized Hollywood boys for me!
